Swedish forestry group Sodra and Austrian specialty fibres producer Lenzing will cooperate in the area of producing cellulose from textile waste. According to a press release, the two companies signed a cooperation agreement to this end on 2 June. The two groups plan to jointly develop production processes in the course of their cooperation. They also intend to raise capacities for the production of pulp from wood cellulose and textile waste from currently 600 t to 6,000 t and to further increase the share of recycled textiles in the end product. The goal for 2025 is to process around 25,000 tpy of textile waste and to offer a pulp grade which will consist of equal parts wood raw material and recycled textiles, the companies said.
