German economy set for further growth, paper producers expect positive trend in 2019

Optimism still reigns in Germany's economy with regard to the year 2019. Nevertheless, the overall assessment of the economic trend on the part of industry participants is far poorer than a year ago. While paper producers are in a relatively positive mood, associations of paper converting and printing firms feel that the overall sentiment among their member companies has deteriorated.The Munich-based Center for Economic Studies Ifo, too, is of the opinion that the economic activity is slowing down. Economic researchers of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IFW Kiel) expect that after the slump seen in the third quarter of last year, the first six months of 2019 will bring a temporary surge before an economic downturn will set in the course of the remaining year.
