Shape The Water lndustry

Now that we are—by all definitions—safely into the new mil- lennium, it is a good time to examine the future of the water industry. A year ago In a special "Water" Issue of The Environmental Bonchmarker A Strategist"*, we marveled at the remarkable pace of consolidation in 1999, and talked about the "foreign invasion" of the U.S. water Industry, which by then was well underway. We also referred to the plethora of new water demand studies and capital requirement projections that were coming out, and the sense of desperation and urgency that they intoned about the future.
