Battle Creek is the latest municipality to implement eco-friendly practices in its infrastructure management operations.rnThe city has launched a $3.9 million energy conservation program that uses a one-two punch of renewable energy technology and infrastructure updates to reduce energy costs and consumption, improve its buildings, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.rn"Looking ahead three to five years, we knew numerous maintenance issues could impact the viability of our buildings," says mayor John Godfrey, "This energy performance contract helps improve our infrastructure; create more comfortable, efficient facilities; and surpass our renewable energy goals."
