Until now, public safety's call for a multiband radio that solves interoperability problems on VHF and UHF bands has been unanswered by the commercial industry. In February, however, the call was finally answered. Harris Corp.'s RF Communications Division introduced the RF-1033M, a true multiband land mobile radio for public safety. The company's goal is to give public safety direct, secure multi-agency communications and multi-mission capabilities in a single radio capable of cross-band communications accessed by the flip of a channel.
