Mainstreaming Emergency Management into Public Administration

The media, public officials, and academics have conducted exhaustive studies of the EM system, especially since Hurricane Katrina and the flood of New Orleans in 2005. Earlier, 9/11 spurred an interest in terrorism and in the weaknesses, failures, and some successes in our political, economic, social, engineering systems when confronted by terrorist action. The operations, processes, and leadership for dealing with disasters of all types and causes have attracted seemingly endless interest and scrutiny.
