Mobile communication has today already made its mark in the business world and is very much on the increase in the private sphere. Yet we are only at the threshold of rapid worldwide development in mobile communication. Experts reckon with sharply accelerated growth and worldwide average penetration of between 5 and 10% in the year 2000. The GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) will play a large part in this development. Right from the start, Swiss Telecom PTT, together with the Nordic telecom companies, has played a leading role in the setting up and operation of mobile networks. It is one of Swiss Telecom PTT's goals to maintain this leading role in the future. Naturally the customer requirements will always be at the centre point.%Die Mobilkommunikation hat bereits heute eine gros-se Bedeutung im Geschäftsund zunehmend auch im Privatbereich erlangt. Noch stehen wir aber am Anfang einer weltweiten rasanten Entwicklung der Mobilkommunikation. Fachleute rechnen mit einem stark beschleunigten Wachstum und einer Penetration von weltweit durchschnittlich zwischen 5 und 10 % im Jahr 2000. Zu dieser Entwicklung wird vor allem auch das GSM (Global System for Mobilcommunica-tion) beitragen. Die Telecom PTT hat neben den nordischen Telecom schon von Beginn weg eine Leaderrol-le beim Aufbau und Betrieb von Mobilnetzen gespielt. Es ist ein Ziel der Telecom PTT, diese Leaderrolle auch in Zukunft zu behalten. Selbstverständlich stehen dabei immer der Kunde und seine Bedürfnisse im Mittelpunkt.
