Visit Turkey's Fantasy Lands of Cones-Cappadocia

Turkey has long been considered the commercial center between East and West, the geographical junction between Europe and Asia, and a place of cultural confrontation between the Arab Muslims and the Byzantine Christians. Of late it has become a popular tourist destination for US travelers. The country is a treasure chest of the art, history, and culture of multiple civilizations. Add this to the delight of Turkish cuisine and hospitality and the tourist migration to Turkey is not surprising. Friendship is important to the Turks, and I believe there may not be a friendlier, more courteous people anywhere in the world. Some visitors (about a million a year) come to Cappadocia (pronounced Cap-uh-DOE-kee-oh), a small area in Central Anatolia four to five hours by car southeast of Ankara. One visit convinced me that no traveler in Turkey should miss this unique and strangely beautiful region.
