When we all entered into a national lockdown together in March, the expectation was that we would come out together. Eight months on and we have been rudely disabused of any notion that we are all in this together. Some parts of the country emerged from lockdown and were able to carry on in the new normal way, while others have been subject to local lockdowns and, more recently, level two or three of the government's new three-tier lockdown system. One of the cities placed under the harshest of these restrictions, tier three, is Manchester. The city's burghers received a £60m support package to soften the blow - a significant improvement on the £22m it was offered before mayor Andy Burnham dug his heels in and demanded more for his city and its businesses. But will it be enough to see a city known for its rich night life and market-leading office developments, such as Allied London's Spinningfields, through the challenging period ahead? And what impact could the latest restrictions have on the local property market?
