The future of intu has been thrown into doubt after investors failed to support its plan to raise up to £1.5bn. In an announcement on Wednesday, the struggling shopping centre owner said it had abandoned the fundraising because of stock market volatility and uncertainty in the retail property investment market. Intu said it was continuing conversations with stakeholders to explore options to improve the health of its balance sheet. Intu chief executive Matthew Roberts said: "While it is disappointing that the extreme market conditions have prevented us from moving forward with our planned equity raise, I am pleased that a number of alternative options have presented themselves during the process."
