In 2017, Philip Lyons made the biggest decision of his career. After 30 years at Taylor Wimpey, where he was the divisional managing director, London and the South East, Lyons jumped ship to take up the role of chief executive of housebuilding at Countryside, " a company with a revenue about a quarter of the size of his then employer's. It was a brave move, but one that paid dividends. In its results for the six months to the end of March, Countryside recorded a 43% increase in completions compared with the same period the previous year. Adjusted revenues, meanwhile, were up .20% and adjusted profits 11%.
