Procuring buildings in 2014 and beyond will require a new approach as construction activity increases. The loss of capacity in the industry as a result of the economic slowdown means experienced teams are in short supply, which has caused selectivity and inflationary pressures. This was the conclusion of a survey by Aecom of large contractors in the London commercial and residential markets. The Main Contractor Market Sentiment Survey, published this month, included firms such as Laing O'Rourke, Skanska, Lend Lease, Brookfield Multiplex and Mace. It shows contractors have undergone a significant upturn in their prospects over the last three months.
