Freeport shops for UK retail opportunities

Freeport Retail is set to make a return to the UK retail market after an eight-year absence, coloured by a takeover and a high-profile court case. Phil Cottingham has been appointed to the new position of UK director and the company plans to make the UK a key location from which to expand its existing portfolio in continental Europe. Cottingham left his position as managing director of Quintain Estates and Development in August, as its key retail scheme - the 280,000 sq ft London Designer Outlet in Wembley -neared completion (above). He joined Quintain in 2008 from Land Securities, where he was portfolio director.
