£25m fund looks to capitalise on weak housing market

Financial services company smith & Williamson is to launch a £ 25m unit trust fund for private investors to purchase UK residential property. The fund, called Dualinvest, will be a two-to-three-year closed-ended 'umbrella' unit trust that will invest in new-build properties. It will effectively offer private investors a route to purchase-and-leaseback deals from distressed developers and housebuilders.
