The future of Sutton Coldfield's green belt has become the centre of a planning war between local residents, developers and Birmingham City Council. In January, Sutton Coldfield MP Andrew Mitchell - the former minister at the centre of the "Plebgate" row - led a march in protest against the council's plans to build 6,000 homes on green belt land to the east of Sutton Coldfield, bordering the A38, known as Langley Sustainable Urban Extension (SUE).
