Beales' biggest landlord blames tax system for collapse of retailer

Beales' former owner and the landlord of more than half of its properties has blamed an "excessive and outdated" tax system for the department store chain's collapse. Panther Securities chairman Andrew Perloff told Property Week; "The stores are being weighed down by excessive taxes. The tax system hasn't moved with the times - or certainly not quickly enough.
