Crest nicholson has applied for planning consent for the f 500m redevelopment of the Vosper Thornycroft site in Woolston, Southampton.Crest Nicholson and the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) plan a mixed-use Centenary Quay schemeat the 10 acre, former shipbuilding site on the east bank of the River Itchen, south of the Itchen Bridge.It will comprise 1,653 homes, 413 of which will be affordable housing, a food store, a three-star, 100-bedroom hotel and a public plaza with shops,cafes and restaurants overlooking the river. There will also be a 10 acre marine employment quarter with 228,500 sq ft of space in units of 1,000-50,000 sq ft to cater for boats from 60 ft to 200 ft. This application follows the previous application by SEEDA, which wasapproved in August 2006 after a section 106 agreement was signed.Deborah Aplin, managing director at Crest Nicholson Regeneration, said: 'We're working closely with the council to provide a scheme that meets the needs of the local community.'
