Bath Rugby makes a stand with £50m revamp

Bath Rugby club was called "an abuser" by a High Court judge in 2002 for trying to add to its 12,200 seats at the Rec (pictured) in Bath city centre, where various sports vie for playing space. The judge determined that the Rec should be placed into the Recreation Ground Trust, which would act on behalf of the Rec's owner, the Charity Commissioners. It is to them that Bath Rugby has turned to again try to enhance the ground where it has played since 1895.
