Henderson's Italian fund duet

Henderson Global Investors has signed an agreement with Italian asset management firm Investire Immobiliare SGR to launch funds to target both Italian and pan-European properties. The joint venture between Henderson and Investire, which is part of Banca Finnat Euramerica Group, is expected to launch funds of €200m-€400m, akin to the fund manager's tie-up with Warburg in Germany. Both companies want to capitalise on Italy's distressed property market, caused by the country's ongoing structural reform and battle to control its spiralling debt. Henderson already operates an SGR (an Italian-registered investment management company), through its Milan-based team. Alberto Albertazzi, general director of Henderson SGR, said: "The establishment of the joint venture reflects our commitment to strengthen our presence in Italy, a market in which we recognise considerable investment opportunities."
