The £300m project, which is due to begin on site towards the end of this year, will include the UK's first "flying theatre" - an immersive cinema thrill ride - among its attractions, alongside themed hotels, restaurants and bars. Nikal co-founder and managing director Nick Payne says it was Blackpool's "hugely ambitious" council with its "openness to regeneration" that paved the way for Blackpool Central. What Nikal sees in Blackpool, he says, is the opportunity to give the town a new calibre of hotel and food and beverage experiences. He believes the town's nightlife, currently a hotbed of stag and hen parties, is crying out for "a more grown-up feel" and when that is evident, more people will come to experience it.
