The author set an ambitious agenda for Safety and Human Resource Law for the Safety Professional to cover a wide chasm of laws and related considerations. What is achieved in this first edition is an introduction. The goal is laudable as a void needs to be filled. Schneid uses examples to make the case for why safety professionals need to expand their educational horizon into what traditionally may be considered human resources territory. For example, even safety professionals not working in a managerial capacity encounter the need to understand workers' compensation regulation due to involvement in workplace injuries, the need to avoid discriminatory language when developing safety policies and the need to understand Americans with Disabilities Act regulation when involved in providing workplace accommodations.Many elements of the book make it more appropriate for inclusion in an OSH educational program than a resource for a practicing OSH professional.
