Video Explains Prestart Inspections of Aerial Work Platforms

Under ANSI standards, operators of aerial work platforms must perform prestart inspections before use each day or at the beginning of each shift. American Work Platform Training, the North American subsidiary of International Powered Access Federation, has released a 13-minute video that demonstrates how to perform these daily inspections on scissor lifts and boom lifts. Users will see how to inspect operating and emergency controls; safety devices; air, hydraulic and fuel system leaks; loose or missing parts; tires and wheels; placards and warnings; outriggers and stabilizers; guardrail system; and any items specified by the manufacturer.
