ASSE & Vision Council Offer Eye Safety Tips

Every day, U.S. workers suffer eye injuries requiring medical attention-injuries that could be easily avoided with appropriate precautions. The Vision Council has teamed with ASSE to release an issue brief about the importance of protecting eyes while on the job. The brief lists jobs and activities with the potential to cause eye injury, and details those with elevated eye injury risk and recommended protective eyewear. It also offers several emergency eye care do's and don'ts: Do: 1.Protect the eye from further damage by holding a folded cloth over the eye, having it act as a shield. 2.Seek eye care immediately. 3.Bandage any cuts around the eye to prevent contamination or infection.
