From coal to LNG?

Environmental concerns are behind a proposal to convert SS Badger, the last coal-fired ship on the Great Lakes, to LNG. Badger's owner, Lake Michigan Carferry, is under a Dec. 19 deadline to stop dumping coal ash in Lake Michigan. Converting the 60-year-old ferry, which is 410 feet long and carries 600 passengers and 180 vehicles on the 60-mile crossing between Ludington, Mich., and Manitowoc, Wis., is estimated to cost $8 million.
