Smaller fireboats get the call; patrol orders go global

Several large fire-boats led the way last year in American Ship Review, but this year's deliveries and new orders tended to be smaller, faster and nimbler. Meanwhile, shipyards specializing in patrol and law enforcement boats benefited from large contracts to American and foreign militaries as well as ongoing projects for police departments here in the U.S. As it often does, Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding received the bulk of U.S. pilot boat orders, with many expected for delivery next year.
