As maritime technology continues to advance into the 21st century, Noel Mostert's predictions of a third onboard caste of electronics crew is being inexorably fulfilled. The accuracy of his predictions is all the more remarkable given that his pivotal book, Supership, was written back in 1974, many years before the proliferation of microprocessors and the advent of the ever-present PC.
