Factors dominating German economy

Amongst all the gloom assailing the British economy in the first part of this year, it seemed that at least there were some economies that were doing even worse: notably Germany and Japan.rnIn the first quarter of 2009 German GDP contracted by 3.8 per cent quarter on quarter, the steepest fall since official quarterly results were first published in 1970. In Japan, GDP fel by 3 per cent. In the UK the decline was 2.4 per cent. But whilst the UK output continued to decline in the second quarter, by 0.8 per cent, Germany and Japan seem to have shrugged off recession with real growth of 0.3 per cent and 0.9 per cent respectively.
