There'll be family occasions this year where a technophobe will compliment a young relative, "that's a smart watch," - to which the youngster will innocently reply, "no, it's not!". Smartwatches are the next big thing, if we are to believe the world's tech giants. But will they be as successful as smartphones and tablets, or will they go the same way as Google Glass? The traditional watch can trace its roots back to the era of the Tudors. From pocket watches to wristwatches, they have thrived through various technological breakthroughs and world wars.
