Lesley: I suggest it would be helpful to raise your profile in your organisation and be well networked, so that you are able to talk with others about your work and ideas, but without bad-mouthing your manager, as this would seriously backfire on you. You may find some sympathetic supporters who can help provide opportunities for you to present your ideas and examples of your work, so you get the credit you're due. You may even be able to make an internal move.
