Most Firms Expect To Face Shortage Of Graduates Despite The Downturn

Most engineering firms are expected to struggle to fill graduate jobs this year, according to a survey from a recruiters' association. The Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) has said that 75% of engineering companies do not expect to fill vacant posts this year because of a shortfall in the number of graduates. The AGR's Graduate Recruitment Winter Survey 2009 revealed that, instead of the 5% decrease in graduate job vacancies most sectors were anticipating because of the recession, engineering firms expect an 8% rise.
