摘要

Mosquitoes are human disease vectors that transmit pathogens through blood feeding, a process that provides female mosquitoes with the necessary nutrients for egg production. If the female mosquito feeds on a human host infected with the malaria para site Plasmodium falciparum or Yellow or Dengue Fever viruses, the pathogens can be trans mitted to uninfected humans during subsequent blood feed ings. Although insecticides have proven to be an effective vector control strategy, mosquito re sistance is a growing problem. Thus, there is a pressing need to develop safer and more effective agents to control mosquitoes.
