摘要

Interruptions in the blood supply to the brain can lead to rapid loss of brain function, a debi litating neurological condition commonly called stroke. Lack of blood flow to the brain, known as ischemia, may be triggered by the blockage of blood vessels or the leakage of blood from ruptured vessels. Although stroke can be devastating, many patients survive the event and undergo spontaneous recovery, despite the loss of stroke-affected brain tissue (1). Here, using a mouse model, we determine how brain regions that survive a stroke-particularly in the unaffected hemisphere- adapt after ischemic stroke.
