摘要

Ever-increasing insecticide resistance in the mosquito Anopheles gambiae threatens to undermine efforts to control and eradicate malaria in Africa. Sara Mitchell et al. (pp. 6147-6152) investigated the molecular basis of resistance to the organochlorine insecticide, DDT, in wild populations of An. gambiae from Ghana. Gene-expression profiling revealed several genes that were upregulated in DDT-resistant mosquitoes compared with susceptible mosquito controls.
