Object and purpose of research. This study is intended to determine the optimal geometry for the elements of the pumpjets with two-staged blade system. Materials and methods. Waterjet design is a multi-aspect task that requires considering the mutual effect of the propulsor elements upon each other. The shape of separate waterjet elements is determined through direct optimization. The mutual effect of the propulsor elements upon each other is considered through the specially developed iterative design algorithm. Main results. The paper suggests the design method for the waterjets with two-staged blade system that enables the selection of the optimal geometry for all the elements of the waterjet. Conclusion. The waterjet designed as per the method suggested in this paper will be able to develop a higher speed than the waterjets currently in use, and will also be smaller in size. If selected properly, the blade system of the second stage will completely eliminate the total torque on the waterjet.%Объект И цель научной работы.
