In maneuvering small domestic cargo ships, most of the approach shiphandling for berthing is conducted solely by masters without the assistance of the crew, which can result in the increase of their workload and stress. If the transacting ability of the master during shiphandling is reduced due to over workload and excessive stress, a human error may occur which leads to accidents such as collisions and groundings. For the prevention of these accidents caused by human error, the development of shiphandling supporting system for masters is desired.rnFrom this point of view, the authors propose an approach shiphandling supporting system which aimes at assisting the shiphandling planning and real shiphandling of the master. The proposed system is composed of a shiphandling planning support system and a leaning type support database. The shiphandling records and maneuvering booklet of the own ship are pre-installed in the database and these data are updated every time approach shiphandling is conducted using shiphandling post evaluation function.rnThe proposed supporting system has been confirmed to be feasible and effective by the simulation study using actual shiphandling data.%操船記録と操船ブックレットで構成するデータベース及び操縦運動モデルによるシミュレーション手法により、操船計画の立案、操船時の運動推定と制御法の事前検討、操船の事後評価の支援を行う操船者の負荷軽減を目的としたアプローチ操船支援システムを提案し、実船データにより実用性を評価した。主要な結論は、次のとおりである。
