Amyth is a statement that applies to one situation, but is incorrectly generalized to apply to all situations. It is absolutely true in at least one context, but not all. One of my favorite myths is that corners, 90-degree bends in traces, affect signal integrity. It is absolutely correct that a 90-degree bend will affect signal integrity. Its impact has nothing to do with exotic processes like accelerating electrons around the corner, or radiation from the sharp tip. The problem is much more mundane. A corner represents a bit more metal than is present if the bend were rounded with a constant width curve. This extra metal acts as a lumped capacitor. The capacitor, in the middle of an otherwise uniform transmission line will affect a signal.
