Positive leadership is missing in action at too many companies in our industry. I'm not talking about positive thinking; plenty of our leaders wear rose-colored glasses. Nor am I talking about leadership; many of these folks know how to bark out orders. I am talking about positive leadership, something that is far more powerful but in very short supply. With so many small, entrepreneurial companies involved in the design and fabrication of PCBs, our industry should be the poster child for entrepreneurial motivation. There's no question that most owners and managers within our industry take constant risks to ensure that they have the business, equipment and skilled staff necessary to service the fast-paced, ever-changing technology industries they supply. Likewise the employees in our industry work long, hard hours and take fierce pride in the quality of their work and their companies' reputation. Hard work, risk-taking and fierce pride are all entrepreneurial hallmarks. But these qualities are not enough to build financially solid corporations during the good times, or sustain a business through the bad times.
