IPC Committee Settles on Transport Protocol

BANNOCKBURN, IL - An IPC subcommittee has voted to use the Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) as the transport protocol for machine-to-machine communication as part of the Connected Factory Initiative (CFX). AMQP is an open standard application-layer protocol for message-oriented middleware, with toolkits available on all major platforms. It boasts a fully symmetrical communication and supports both publish/subscribe and request/response communication patterns. On top of that, IPC reports, its advanced security features are greater than both MQ Technology Telemetry Transport (MQTT) and Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP).
