This paper describes a digital technique for protecting busbars.nThe technique uses positive- and negative-sequence models of the powernsystem in a fault-detection algorithm. While phase voltages and currentsnare used to detect faults, parameters of the power system are not used.nAn analysis of the performance of the proposed technique during CTnsaturation and ratio-mismatch conditions is presented. The performancenof the technique was investigated for a variety of operating conditionsnand for several busbar configurations. Data generated by EMTPnsimulations of model power systems were used in the investigations. Thenresults indicate that the proposed technique is stable during CTnsaturation and ratio-mismatch conditions
