The Italian container terminaland intermodal operator,Contship Italia Group,has launched a number ofnew initiatives designedto enhance its current portand rail operations.The company, which is part ofthe Eurokai Group (which alsoincludes Eurogate), is planning toincrease its container handingcapacity and boost intermodalrail activities.For the port business,investment is planned at LaSpezia Container Terminal (LSCT),the company’s main containerterminal. Here, a new 524m longquay with five ship-to-shoregantry cranes (25 rows across)will add 300,000TEU to theexisting annual containercapacity, as the facility gears upto serve larger container vessels.
