Kongsberg Maritime has announced that Fugro Survey Ltd. has ordered the latest generation of HUGIN AUVs to augment its existing fleet of survey vehicles. The new HUGIN 1000 AUV has depth rating of 3,000 m and includes Lithium Polymer batteries. The batteries are packaged into modules, which are stacked in the centre section of the AUV They can be swapped between dives, which reduces the turn-around time to less than 2 hrs. This latest configuration has 48 kW-hrs of energy providing more than 70 hours of effective survey time with the payload sensors collecting data simultaneously.
