Energy analysts are in no doubt that the world economy will be fuelled mostly by hydrocarbons for decades to come, but most of the developed world is already committed to raising the contribution to the overall energy mix generated by renewables. Wind and sun are the two single-most important contributors and, in a maritime engineering perspective, offshore wind is both challenging and potentially rewarding.
