The concept of translocality has, in recent years,nserved as an important addition to the scholarshipnon transnationalism, by drawing attention to thensituated nature of transnational networks. Innaccentuating local–local ties (e.g. between anparticular village in Mexico and a neighbourhoodnin the United States), translocality has helpednbring out the ways in which the materiality ofneveryday life is connected across spaces fornpeople embedded in social and economic relationshipsnthat traverse national borders. This effort tonterritorialize transnationalism has brought tonthe fore the identities and agency of people innmovement, and how these shape and are shapednby specific spaces and places.
