Most of us would like to be Ashley Weiss. At age 18 she has been a staunch Mustang fan for over 17 years. Thanks to her father, Bruce Weiss, she attended her first regional Mustang show at the tender age of six months. With hundreds of car shows already under her belt at age five, she received her first Shelby, a blue-and-white, gas-powered miniature replica of her father's 1966 Shelby GT 350. By the time she was eight, she was already adamant about wanting a 1966 Hertz Shelby Mustang when she was old enough to drive. A few years later, Ashley and her father began the pleasant task of collecting parts for the 1966 Mustang fastback she received for her 15th birthday. The actual car was in poor condition but to Ashley, it was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. The goal was to build a replica GT 350H that would become the daily driver of her dreams. From the outset, Ashley planned on playing an active role in the construction, spending the summer of her 15th year disassembling the car and learning every tool in the shop from impact wrenches to bead blasters.
