MAN WITH THE PLAN

Sometimes, the right car finds you. Ask Bret Voelkel; he'll tell you. While in Nashville in the spring of 2004 for the Mustang 40th Anniversary celebration, Voelkel spotted this 1969 Mustang fastback in the parking lot of the hotel in which he was staying. Though there was no indication the car was for sale, Voelkel was unable to get the car out of his head. Voelkel wasn't seeing the car again at the show the next day, he knew he had to have it. So committed was he to possessing the car that he spent three hours camped in front of the car awaiting the owner's return. He then spent several more sharing his vision for the car in order to persuade the owner to part with it. Finally, a deal was struck and Voelkel was a happy man.
