The summer of 2008 will go down in the record books as one of the toughest for hot rodders since 1981 (or even 1973). Yeah, I'm talking about gas. So this month, our theme is lightweight musclecars, which is always a favorite because, all things being equal, a lighter car will give you more grunt for a given amount of power. That's important with gas well over the $4-per-gallon mark. This recently hit home for me, because it's the height of the travel season. In the last two weeks, I've booked five flights to such far away places as New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, New York, and Illinois. Man, is airfare expensive! I just paid $900 to go to Nashville-all due to the high cost of oil.
