Sometimes all you need is a good long holiday break to get your "punch list" accomplished, and we're happy to report that the Laguna is the recipient of that extra Thanksgiving-week time. With help from our good friends at Outlaw Motorsports in Riverside, California, we got our Dart 427 SHP engine swap completed, which consisted of pulling the tired solid-roller 408 and replacing it with a new Dart bullet we told you about back in the Oct. and Nov. '11 issues. (See the "Anti-LS" buildup series). Starting with one of Dart's 427ci Sportsman High Performance (SHP) short-block assemblies, Dart added a COMP solid-roller cam with .688-inch lift, some Dart Pro 1 CNOported heads coupled to one of their stellar single-plane intakes, and topped it off with a Performance Distributors DUI distributor and one of Holley's brand-spanking-new Ultra HP 850 double pumpers.
