摘要

This special issue of the Polymer Degradation and Stability is composed of 25 papers among more than 100 papers presented at the 2nd International Conference on Bio-based Polymers (ICBP 2009), which was held at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia from 11-13th November 2009.rnThe 1st IUPAC International Conference on Bio-based Polymers (ICBP2003) took place at RIKEN, Japan. Although it was decided then that this conference was to be held every two years, due to unavoidable circumstances the 2nd meeting could not take place as planned. Nevertheless, this important and timely conference was revived and successfully conducted last year. Universiti Sains Malaysia is honored to host the 2nd ICBP in a joint collaboration with RIKEN and Tokyo University, Japan. The next ICBP 2011, is planned to be held in Beijing, China.
