The paper mainly deals with the assessment of toxic heavy metals in the soils collected from the industrial areas and agricultural fields near Jojari River in the Jodhpur City. Jojari River is highly contaminated with the industrial effluents and sewage water. The analysis was done in the period of September 2017 - June 2018.The levels of Pb, Co, Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, and Zn in the settled soil samples collected from the streets around textile industries and from the agricultural fields near Jojari River in the Jodhpur city were analyzed by the use of AAS. Metal concentration trends variation was also assessed. The overall mean concentration of heavy metals were very high in the industrial areas and agricultural fields than other normal streets. Most of the soil samples were found to contain very high concentration of the heavy metals, and were found to be well above the permissible limits. Zinc was exception as its concentration was recorded well below the permissible limits recommended by the WHO. pH and electrical conductivity of all the soil samples were recorded well above the normal range.
