摘要

Coal is the main energy source of developing and under developing countries which is a virtue. In other side this coal deposits produces high amount of acid mine drainage (AMD) which is a vice for the environment of those countries as it reduces soil pH and also solubilizes many toxic heavy metals. In India, coal is the main energy source for rural as well as urban sectors. So, analysis of heavy metal levels in and around the coal mine area has significant importance for environment and human health. Analysis was done of the seasonal variations of dissolved Zn, Cu, Pb, Cr and Co in the drainage water of Barjora coal mine, located in the Bankura district of the maritime state of West Bengal during 2015 and 2016. The dissolved heavy metals in the drainage canal varied as per the order ZnCuCoCrPb. Moreover it is also observed that the seasonal sequence of these heavy metals varied as per the order monsoonpostmonsoonpremonsoon.
